The past year has been huge for the YZY team and our network of builders. We’ve built many amazing homes, backyard cabins and granny flats across Australia and New Zealand, travelled to Europe to visit our suppliers and see the latest in sustainable homes, and met many of you at the Tiny Home Expo where our Victorian builders constructed our Sicilia Panorama 30 in record time just for the show.
But, always the highlight for us is creating amazing homes for our clients! So to showcase some of our favourites, and inspire you to dream up your own eco-friendly cabin for the new year, we’ve put together this collection of our 2022 featured homes.
Sustainable, Stylish Poolside Cabin – Brisbane, QLD

What better way to enhance this stunning poolside space than to add our popular Sicilia Panorama 30. Designed as a pool house that can also double as multi-generational accommodation, this poolside cabin project looks amazing from every angle.
The colour scheme of the exterior blends beautifully with the existing home, creating a cohesive and visually stunning look and feel that is so impressive. As our client Trevor explains:
‘We settled on the Sicilia Panorama 30 from YZY due to its perfectly proportioned size for our yard and its modern skillion roof with internal exposed beams. The final design feels very contemporary and suits the concept of being a “pool house” whilst also providing an accommodation option.’
Stunning Multipurpose Granny Flat – Sydney, NSW

For those who have made the switch to working from home, a lack of space is a common problem, and this was certainly the case for this Sydney family. After researching the options, they decided our sustainable kit homes ticked all the boxes for a multipurpose home office that could transform into a guest house or teenage retreat as needed.
Today, the one-bedroom Madeira is perfectly positioned in their backyard, and the family couldn’t be happier with the difference it has made to their lifestyle and household harmony.
Custom cabin creates more space – Brisbane, QLD

Needing to accommodate their growing teenagers, our custom cabin created more space in record time for this family. The fast and easy building process along with the ability to customise the cabin to suit the dimensions of their backyard space made the decision to build a modified Sicilia Panorama 30 cabin an easy one.
The bright, breezy colours combine beautifully with the natural elements throughout, creating a modern, comfortable space that the family loves. As Amy explains:
‘We absolutely love the overall feel of this cabin, it’s better than we ever could have imagined it to be, and it’s a great space for our family and friends, which will be used for many years to come.’
Eco-Friendly 2-Storey Extension – Waitati, New Zealand
Custom extension
When our clients’ two-bedroom home was getting a bit crowded for their growing family, they opted to extend so they could remain on their block in the picturesque South Island.
Our two-storey addition added three more bedrooms, and with a focus on sustainability and natural materials, the extension was completed with minimal environmental impact. The exposed timber and high cathedral ceilings give this beautiful home character and a unique charm that makes an impressive statement in this beautiful home.

At the Tiny Home Expo in Melbourne, the team at A40 Group built our popular Sicilia Panorama 30, showcasing their skills after recently joining our trusted building network.
With double-glazed doors and windows, contemporary exposed beams, environmentally friendly mass timber walls and many other Scandi characteristics that make you feel good, it’s no wonder our cabin was so well-received by the thousands of visitors who attended.
