The year 2019 was a prolific one, it saw the construction of new Scandinavian cabins, granny flats and houses spread across Australia. YZY Kit Homes were used in varying ways. The larger units were utilized as homes, independent living spaces specially designed for teenagers, guest houses or bed and breakfasts. The smaller studio-type cabins were utilized as art studios, home offices, music rooms, pool houses and sheds.
Space is the primary driving force for the initiation of construction. Then the client gets in contact with a builder to develop potential ideas. Simultaneously, the builder focuses on the options and restrictions associated with the site. Following a few rounds of discussion, working in unison the best possible outcome is achieved. The results speak for themselves. Here are some of the cabins which came up in 2019.

Crete cabin built as a pool house
“We enjoy the feeling of solid timber exterior which it renders to the structure. The best part was it was a breeze to setup. The pool house lets us make more of the pool, it lets us relax even when the weather it too chilly to swim. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the serenity of the environment.” – said Jennifer and Scott, owners of the cabin set up in Southern Highlands NSW

Sicilia 30 one bedroom
A single bedroom cabin Sicilia 30 was constructed to be a new model unit for a Display Village located along the central coast.
Carly And Ben’s Garden Cottage for Guests
Customized Crete cabin was constructed to be a garden cottage for the Drysdale’s family of Conder. The construction of the cabin was started out as a sleeping area for visiting guests, but during the process of construction, the young family got to know that there is a second daughter on the way. Since they would run out space for the new member in their house, the garden cottage was converted.

Soundproof music studio
Brian ‘Lanky’ Moore, who is an ex-musician constructed his own soundproof music room in Armidale. Brian was an ex-member of the band “Constable, Green and Moore”, “Kelsey”, “Shane” and “The Chooks” where he was a vocalist and a drummer. Following retirement, Brian Moore decided that it was time to complete his lifelong dream of having his own music studio. “From the time of obtaining the quote to completion of the studio, the whole process was professional and seamless, the construction was well priced with no requirement for DA. The best part was the whole thing was done in seven days”- Brian Moore.

Madeira 2 bedroom
The 2-bedroom Madeira was set up as a model display unit to a Display Village of Canberra, ACT.
Independent Space for Teenage Kids
Catharine and Alex decided to expand their property by setting up a Rhodes at the rear end of their Sydney property. The family required more space, hence the addition of a new independent dwelling, which according to them has been a life-changing decision. The two teenagers have the opportunity to have their own space and privacy, permitting the couple along with their youngest child to occupy the comforts of their home.
Alex said that “whoever lays their eyes on it are truly blown away. Everyone loves it, from their friends to tradies. The quality blows away the tradies. Considering all of this, we think that we quite possibly have made the best investment ever”.
“It was such a joyous moment when the Rhodes was completed and the kids moved in. The two teenagers moved in. This new space for the two kids completely changed our world. We love it so much; I sometimes pinch my self whenever I see it. We would like to thank YZY kit homes for developing such an amazing concept and are thoroughly proud to be a part of it”- said Catherine.

The Cyprus house built for John up in the Snowy Mountains
“I am blown away by the insulation it offers. I think I might have switched on the air conditioner only twice, even when we had plus 40C heat for four straight days” said John. John is now the proud owner of a Cyprus home.
